Chapter 1
He ran as fast as his legs would allow him. Sweat plastered his brown hair to his head and slipped into his eyes, blurring his vision. But still he didn’t stop. The buildings of Los Angeles towered high around him, bleak and forbidding. The dark shadows of night rested in the ally ways like dirt underneath a fingernail. The pounding of the boy’s feet slowed and came to a stop. He rested his hands on his knees and panted. The breath came out of him in ragged gasps, tearing through his throat as he gulped down air. His old black shirt clung to his body, revealing how slim he was. Finally he straightened, and looked wearily around him. Down the block to his left an elderly woman stood on her stoop, clutching one hand around her floral robe in a feeble attempt at keeping the brisk night air from touching her. With the other, she waved to a friend across the street before retiring to her apartment for a cup of tea and a good book. To his right a young man wearing a tie- die shirt, was walking a large black and brown dog. . . .

(That is not all of the first chapter, I just haven't written much on it yet)
This is a story I am writting about a boy who's parents and two year old sister, were murdered when he was only 13. He had trouble from then on, and he had a good reason for that. The people who murdered his family are coming after him, while unexplainable things happened to him over the time since his death. And he has no clue why.

Here's more off the story, starting RIGHT where it left off...
The dog was pulling at the leash, dragging his master along as if he was the one giving the walk. The boy looked behind him in the direction he had come from. He began to shake uncontrollably. The night was a dark cloak that was only broken by the dim orange light let off by the tall, cracked street lamps. The street that he was on was empty, all people now safely tucked inside their apartments. Empty, that is except for three men. Their tall, black clothed silhouettes were turned his way. The men blended in with the shadows of the ally they were standing in. Their faces were blanketed in shadow, making their features invisible. All the boy could see was that their hands were folded and casually left hanging. The three men took a step forward in unison. The shadows seemed to cling to their very essence and danced behind them like dark flames. The boy took a step back as if he couldn’t bear to get to close to them. All of the sudden a street light not far from him shattered and buzzed out. The boy crouched down and covered his head as glass rained down around him, making soft tinking sounds as it hit the cement sidewalk. The men once again stepped forward in unison, but this time, they did not stop. They kept advancing toward him with unfaltering steps. They boy backed away, his heart beating in his throat. With a quick turn, he found himself running once again. His powerful legs pumped rapidly, carrying his form swiftly over the hard, cold sidewalk. He tried to scream, but his throat was too contracted with fear. Looking over his shoulder, he noticed that the men were still advancing toward him, and were swiftly closing the gap; even though they were only walking. He felt his foot go down the curb, but he was going to fast to stop. He fell onto the hard asphalt street without even being able to catch himself. But he got up again, pain shooting up his chest and chin. He stood unsteadily and looked behind him. The men were gone. A loud sound jolted him back to reality. Just as his head turned he felt immense pain, then nothing.
